Vona Kaye Orr, a devoted wife, a loving mom, and a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2026, at the age of 74.
Vona dedicated her entire life to caring for her family. She shared 59 years of marriage with the love of her life, Donnie. Their love story demonstrated a lifetime of commitment, friendship, and unconditional love. Her children and grandchildren will remember her as their humble Momma, Meme, and Grammy who constantly prayed for them and loved them fiercely.
Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was her guiding light. Vona’s favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She truly led a life that looked only to Jesus through the good times and the bad times.
Vona was bold in sharing her testimony. From surviving polio as a young child to being healed of a brain tumor later in life, she planted seeds of hope and faith in the hearts of countless strangers. She wanted everyone in her path to know the goodness of God and His healing power!
She poured selfless love into everything she did. She welcomed everyone. To know Vona was to know joy, love, and laughter!
Her Christ-like legacy will carry on through her family and friends for generations to come.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Verly “Donnie” Orr; her cherished five children and their spouses: Donna “KK” Hogan (John), Donald “Duke” Orr, David Orr (Sue), Deana McCall (Jarred), and Daniel “Danny” Orr (Tara); her adored grandchildren, Chandler Orr (Madeline), David Hogan, Maddison Parks (Cole), Luc Mauvis, Taylor Mauvis, Chace McCall, Gwendolyn Orr, Karson Orr, and Konnor Orr; her precious great-grandchildren, Harrison Orr, Solomon Orr, and Hollyn Parks; special cousins
Lowell “Bookie” and Vicki Poe; special niece, Jeana Mitchell; longtime neighbor and best friend Joyce Lee; sister-in-law, Karyl Shawkey, and a host of relatives and friends that she also loved with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eva Shawkey; her sister, Vickie Liberto (Russell), and her brother, Robbie Shawkey.
