So sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He was a faithful public servant to his community and nation. The City of Maryville was fortunate to have such a skillful and dedicated firefighter. But more important he was a really good person who will be missed by all who knew him.

We thank God for Steve and the privilege of knowing him. What a generous and kind friend he was to many of us, and his ready smile and genuine interest in helping other people was outstanding. Steve glorified his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served by dedicating his life to service to others and saving lives often at the risk of his own. May the Lord bless and sustain you, Donna, in your grief. Thank you for honoring Steve with the military honors graveside ceremony led by Ron. Please know we have been and will remembering you and praying for you. We thank God for his promise that whosoever believes in Christ shall not perish but have eternal life. Life in Christ's Presence, where Steve is now by faith, is beyond our imagination. Thanks be to God for Steve and Donna. Dennis and Luanne Lovin

I served our community with Capt. Hammontree as a member of the Maryville Fire Department from 1989 until his retirement. Steve was a diligent firefighter and was always willing to pitch in. He was also a friend outside of work and we fished and enjoyed the outdoors on many occasions. We had talked about salvation and eternal life, and we can be comforted now knowing he is with Jesus in Glory.
