Family and Friends can call at their convenience 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home, 1102 Big Springs Road Maryville TN, 37801 to sign the book and view pictures of her life. A celebration of her life will be held late spring or early summer for an outdoor event. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, on April 10, 2022, at Ballards Chapel Cemetery: 3979 Wrights Ferry Rd, Louisville, TN, 37777 with Rev. Bill Dixon and Rev. Cliffton Hearon officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Helen’s memory at http://maryville.tnlions.org/ or mail: Maryville Lions Club P.O. Box 802, Alcoa, TN 37701 – this club paid for her much-needed 1st pair of eyeglasses back in 1941 which daughter still has and cherishes dearly.

Rosa “Helen” Scates, age 85, of Maryville passed away Friday April 8th, 2022 with her daughter at her side. She was an RN of 55 years spending 45 years of her nursing career with Blount Memorial Hospital. Proceeded in death by husband Douglas Leon Scates, parents Thomas Arthur and Rosie Hazel Jones, sister Betty Lou Haynes. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dianna and Bob Braden of Maryville, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Sharon Scates, and son Eric Scates of Knoxville, grandchildren (Kathy Jones, Samantha White, Trent Scates, and Daniel and Laura Scates) and great-grandchildren (Maddie, Braden, and Kylie Jones and son Greyson), (Haileigh, Carleigh, and Kinzleigh White) and (Skylar Scates), and niece Theresa Haynes of Chicago IL. The family would like to thank ALL of the Nursing, Therapy, Dining Room, and housekeeping staff at Asbury Place Assisted Legacy, and her nurse practitioner and friend of many years Mary Walker, you all were blessing to her. Also, a special thanks to Suzanne Jones, Tammy Sims, and Betty Effler who spent special hours with her during the last couple months and to Asbury Healthcare staff for all your loving support.
