I lived in Friendsville from 1976-1981, and was a member of the Friendsville Volunteer Fire Dept. That is where I met Tom. We responded to a chicken house fire as well as several other agencies. We weren't having much success getting the fire under control. Tom worked for an electric company, had a truck with a "cherry picker" bucket. Tom and another fireman went up with a hose and with us being able to attack the fire from the top, we got the fire put out. The loss of chicken life was high as well as the chickens that had to be put down. Very interesting times as a FVFD member.

With my deepest condolences for the family. I worked with Tom for many years and loved him dearly, and missed him daily since his retirement. Tom was always the same and always had a funny story to tell. There was no doubt that Tom was a Christian because he was always sharing that with others around him. Many times I would come out the back door of the office and hear Tom sing long before I saw him, I still think about that every time I come out of the office and head for my truck. I know that Tom will be missed by so many people, but he would want everyone to know that if we put our trust in God we will see Tom again in Heaven, because I know he’s there singing.
