I would like to thank Weston and Brenda for setting up an initial visit to see Lloyd and Patricia while they were still staying in Knoxville. I had not seen in many years but had thought of the Smith family many times. I had a good conversation with both of them. I was surprised at how much they remembered. Patricia said, "I still remember your favorite meal". That is going back almost 50 years. I am thankful that I was able to visit her one last time last week. She was such a sweet, and Godly person. There are just so many great memories that I can't begin to share them all. My prayers are with Lloyd and all the Smith family.

Mrs. Patricia sounds like a lovely lady. I am fortunate to go to church with her son Wes and daughter-in-law Brenda, both of whom lovingly cared for her as her time on this earth drew near the end. May God be near the Smith family. The Lord is close to all who call on him. Psalm 145:18 NLT

I moved back to East Tennessee in March 2018. My property adjoins Patricia and Lloyd's Fox Stables farm. i felt lucky to have such good neighbors as Patricia and Lloyd. And all the animals - horses, ponies, cats, skunks! I am in my 70s and a gardener.; a wanna-be farmer. As someone who aspires to understand the land I am on, I appreciated the longevity and wisdom from both the Smiths. But Patricia in particular. I planted gooseberries one year and took her a container full. She said she had not had any since her Father grew some on his farm when she was a young girl. We talked about gardens, animals, flowers, cooking. I loved sitting in her kitchen and talking. What I remember today is she told me about something I had never heard of before: the "little winters" in East Tennessee. Maybe across Appalachia. My people are all from Appalachia, but I had not heard of "Blackberry winter". I suspect I was lamenting a blossom freeze of my blackberry canes. But now I know about these late season cold snaps that threaten fruit and flowering trees. These are events that connect those of us who care about such things across time. I appreciate she understood these seasons to be part of God's/Spirit's plan. As a young-un in my late 60s and early 70s I welcomed having an older, much wiser person to whom I could talk. Patricia always warmly welcomed me into her kitchen, told me to pull up a rocking chair, and visit a while. I will miss her company, her strength, her sharp mind, her wit, her equanimity. I will miss her. Condolences to her family.
