Glenn Chapman, age 77, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was born on April 15, 1949, in Friendsville, Tennessee, where he was raised and spent much of his life. For many years Glenn had a career at Schlegel Corporation where he was a shift leader and respected by his coworkers. Glenn’s life was marked by service to both his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Puerto Rico during his military service. He also dedicated many years to the City of Friendsville Water Department, where he faithfully served the community, he loved. Glenn was a devoted member of Friendsville United Methodist Church, where he shared in the life and ministry of the congregation for many years. His quiet dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to others left a lasting impact on all who knew him. A lifelong outdoorsman, Glenn loved hunting and fishing and could often be found enjoying the beauty of Cades Cove. He especially loved his boat and treasured weekends spent on the water with his family, teaching them to waterski and creating memories that would last a lifetime. As a young man, he played basketball in high school and later became well known on the softball fields of Maryville, where he enjoyed many years of friendly competition. Those who knew Glenn will remember his towering height, his dry sense of humor, and his quiet appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting outside beneath the shade of a tree, watching and counting the deer that wandered on his property. Glenn’s life was marked by devotion to family, love of the outdoors, and a deep connection to the community he called home. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Artelle Chapman, and his sister, Kay. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Bobbie Chapman; his children, Lissa Curtis-Weakley (Karen); and Greg Chapman (Lisa).
