Service Date March 31, 2019
Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday March 31, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Marquiel Baker officiating. Family and friends will all meet 10:00 A.M. Monday April 1, 2019 at Caylors Chapel Cemetery in Townsend, TN for a graveside service. At the closing of the service her favorite hymn, “Amazing Grace” will carry through the mountains as her family sings it to honor her memory. The family will receive friends 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gladys Oliver Burns, 87 of Walland, TN passed away March 29, 2019, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by Husband: James Burns, Parents: Elder Carey C. and Ida Oliver, Brothers: Junior and Don Oliver, Sisters: Margie Burns and Edith Hembree, Sons: Nick Gribble, Robin Gribble, and Michael Ridings, Nieces: Donna Oliver, Carol Bradam, and Sandra Lindsey, Nephews: David Oliver and Steve Lawson. She is survived by her Sons: Joe Gribble, Jerry (Lori) Ridings, Daughter-in-law: Tina Ridings, Brother: Roy (Emmalou) Oliver, Grandchildren: Cynthia Eve, Nicky Gribble, Tori Eckerly, Tony Gribble, Michael Gribble, John Gribble, Bobby Joe Gribble, Andrea Bookhardt, Clint Ridings, Ashley Ridings, and Alyssa Ridings, Special nephew: John (Lori) Oliver. Her earthly journey began 87 years ago in Townsend, TN. She was active in the Oliver Reunions as an elected officer and the CCPA. She wrote two books about Cades Cove. She attended Keeble’s Chapel Baptist Church in Walland, TN and was a lifelong member of Headrick’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
