Charles Paul Gardner, age 67 passed away surrounded by his family May 20, 2024, due to a long battle with pneumonia. Charles was born February 13, 1957, in Marietta, Georgia to James and Esther Gardner. Charles was the baby of the Gardner family, and his charisma and shenanigans developed from the day he was born. All through his school years Charles was always the center of the crowd. After attending Sprayberry High School, Charles decided the best way to travel around the United States was to become a salesman. If you needed it, he would sell it to you. He loved living everywhere his job took him. He came to Tennessee for work and met the love of his life, Linda, they married November 4th, 1996. Charles and Linda moved back to Tennessee in 2002. Charles worked for Harrison Construction driving a concrete truck for 20 years. He loved his job and always had stories about driving his big truck up the side of mountains. Charles considered Tennessee his real home and he actually, became a Vols fan. He was passionate about his family and dedicated his life to taking care of Linda. He never used the word “step” when it came to his daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They agreed that it was an unnecessary adjective. Before and especially after retiring his hobby was piddling in the garage and working on cars with his best friend and son-in-law Brian. He loved to have family BBQ’s and birthday parties at their home giving him the opportunity to use his smoker. He was always the loudest and loved to laugh until he cried. He had a colossal heart and would always be the first to volunteer to help someone. He shared the love of music with his daughter and danced in the car together like no one was watching. Charles was undeniably a loyal and candid man, so if you got the chance to be his friend, consider yourself lucky. Charles is preceded in death by his father: James Gardner, and Brother-in-law: Allen Conley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Linda; Mother Esther Roberts Gardner, his sister Debbie Conley, and brother Larry Gardner and sister-in-law Diane; daughter Billie Jo and son in law Brian Satterfield; grandchildren Jordan and husband Nick, Robby, Xavier and wife Chelsia, and Lauren; Great grandchildren Tyr Lakota, Atreus Jullian, Bristol Kate, and Barrett Roman, and one on the way in June, Braxton Everett. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In Charles’ memory, check your vehicle gages, roll down your windows and crank up the tunes, and sing and dance like there is a literal concert going on in your ride-he would like that!
