The funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Everett Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Hayes officiating. A Military graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Carpenters Campground Cemetery.

Benny Ray Finley 71, of Maryville passed away Saturday April 8th, 2023, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eva Bernice Finley, and brother Bobby Finley. Benny is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jean Finley. He leaves behind his children, Amanda (Bart) Murphy, Kerry (Melissa) Finley, and Jena (Frank) Hudson; grandchildren, Alexis Stinnett, Corbin Murphy, Drake Murphy, Lindsey Roddy, Jordan (Keagan) Chaney, and Luke Hudson; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda (David) Hensley; and several nieces and nephews. Benny, a native from Maryville, served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Specialist sharpshooter. For his service, he earned a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Benny’s experience in the Army played a very important role in his life and taught him the value of discipline and hard work. Sharing these attributes with his children, he instilled positive reinforcement and encouraged them that they could accomplish anything with dedication and hard work. He had such an infectious spirit that made people laugh and smile. He also had a special love for his animals. Benny was a talented painter and woodworker. His artistry was well known in the Smoky Mountains and could be found throughout the many craft shops.
