Thursday May 16, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home: 1102 Big Springs Road, Maryville, TN 37801, with Pastor George Macht officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, interment will follow at The Garden of Gethsemane at Grandview Cemetery where he will be buried next to his lovely wife to be “Together Forever” which is what their headstone states. |

John Walter Daniel, age 96 was born in Tate Springs (Grainger County), TN on November 16, 1922 to Basil E. and Mae Stubblefield Daniel. He passed to live forever with his Heavenly Father in his new home on May 13, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother B.C. Daniel and his sisters Veda Mae, Grace, and Modena. He was also preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 52 years, June Morrison Daniel who passed on June 17, 1994. He leaves behind his children; Charles and daughter-in-law Brenda Daniel of Jonesboro, Ga., Janet and son-in-law Donnie Beal, Mary Lou Walker, and Marty Thomas all of Maryville. Also, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. He was a Master Mason and member of the Eastern Star. In 1946, he was in the 9th Air Force, 913th Air Engineer Squadron, 495th Air Service Group. He was a World War II veteran serving in England, France, and Germany. He served in the Campaign of Normandy, North France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received an American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was retired from the State of Tennessee and Walmart (Hunters Crossing). His favorite joy in life was watching and helping all children to grow. He coached elementary school basketball and was a coach and manager for Maryville Little League Baseball for 23 years. He has now gone home and is waiting for his relatives and friends to follow him in his Heavenly Home. |
