Mary Ruth Hannah Downey

Mary Ruth Hannah Downey, born December 14, 1945, and went to her heavenly home on June 16, 2025.  If you had the opportunity to get to know her, then you are blessed.  Everyone who met her loved her.  Mary is survived by sons, Kenneth O. Downey (Sherill), Drew A. Downey (Kathy), daughter, Kristie Downey Jones, and also Chris Downey (Tommy), whom she loved as a daughter.  Grandchildren: Rachel Downey, Cassie Peterson (Fitz), Travis Downey (Melissa) Natasha Downey, Brandon Walker, Dustin Walker, Jessica Hall (Ron), Catelin Ellison (Eli), Artemis Jones, great grandchildren. Cody Downey, Hunter Downey, Austin Downey, Gauge Downey, Hannah Downey, Kendra Downey, Kaylee Hardwick, Dianne Hall, Kiana Hall, and RJ Hall.  She was “Nanny” to every child she met and loved each of them as her grandchildren.  These grandchildren include Kelly, Aron, Kenzie, Kayla, Jaxsyn, Laurel, Sequoyah, and Pandora.  She is also survived by two brothers, and her sister Irene, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.  Mary is preceded in death by her mother and father, several siblings, nieces and nephews, and cousins.  Mary is now home, where she can be pain-free, burden-free, and is now able to spend time with her son-in-law, Joshua Jones, her friend Johnny, and the many others who have been waiting for her.  Mary also had a special place in her heart for Krystal Hardin, who would sit with her for hours to talk or just listen.  A special thanks goes out to Melissa Downey, who has been by my mom’s side and here for support for the family throughout this difficult time.
