James "Jimmy" Gann

Celebration of life will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday August 4, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home 1102 Big Springs Road, Maryville, TN 37801, with Pastor Noah Russell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

James “Jimmy” Calvin Gann, age 73, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as an E5 Technical Sergeant with the 134th Unit. He later retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company of America after 30 dedicated years working as a machinist. A man of deep faith and unwavering devotion to his family, Jimmy was known as “Papaw” around the ballfields where he spent many years coaching both baseball and softball. He was loved by all who knew him. Jimmy was a longtime member of Riverview Baptist Church, where he enjoyed playing guitar and worshiping with his church family. Jimmy spent many hours fishing and enjoyed every moment of it. He loved sports, and traveling on vacations with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Georgia Gann, and his brother, Jerry D. Gann. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marcie Murr Gann; his children, Angela Gann Trentham (JT) and David Gann (Euretta); and his grandchildren, Taylor Raby (John), Lauren Edwards, and Landry Gann.
