Vivian Jean Cornwell Shields woke up in the arms of Jesus Sunday October 13, 2024. She was born to Beecher James and Dorothy Hampton Cornwell in her beloved hometown of Murphy, North Carolina on May 3, 1942. In her teen years she and her family moved to Maryville, TN where she graduated from Everett High School. She worked at the Humdinger Drive-In until she married and eventually had four children. She was an avid reader and she loved to work the cryptoquotes and crossword puzzles daily. She had a sense of humor that was unmatched and a contagious laugh that captured everyone’s heart. She was a hard worker and gave her all to any job she had. She had the most generous heart and always gave joyfully. Her motto was, “I would rather give in error than not give at all.” She was a faithful member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She is survived by her four children, Cindy Lynn (Michael), Judy Denton (Chris), Hugh Shields (Allison) and Patty Watkins (Chris). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren Brittany Shields, Kahla Bishop, Jason Shields, Jesse Wilkerson, Nicholas Wilkerson, Brian Denton, Jacob Denton, and Callie Grace Watkins. She counted it a blessing to have 16 great grandchildren Rylee, Kaylee, Tynlee, Kingslee, Kenzie, Willow, Wren, Sawyer, Lily, Finley, Ridge, Duke, Boyd, Reagan, Stetson and Franklynn. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
