Obituaries

Rodney Ellis Poplin, age 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of September 1, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, and Poppy. He will be remembered most for his love of our Lord Jesus Christ and his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Poplin Sr., his mother, Mildred Garner Poplin, and his brother, Earl Poplin Jr.  He is survived by his wife, Peggy White Poplin; his daughters, Tammy and Kent Sellars, Amanda and Chuck Quiett, and Nikki and Brent Ridge; his grandchildren, Kelsey Walker, Gabe Emert, Katelyn Price, Shelby Emert, Mckensie Emert, Brenna Ridge, Macie Ridge, and Garrett Quiett and 10 great grandchildren; and lastly his siblings, Charles “Butch” Poplin, Sandra Blevins, Steve Poplin, and Becca Caylor.  In his early years, Rod enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding and camping with his family and friends. He touched many lives through his music and Bible teaching. Rod worshiped and served at the Maryville First Church of God for 35 years. He has spent the past several years devoted to Butterfly Gap Baptist Church. To have known him was an honor and he will be greatly missed.
