Linda S. Whitehead, 77, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 16, 2024. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Linda was a cherished member of her community and a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Over the years, Linda and her husband, Earl, enjoyed many vacations at the beach, which was Linda’s favorite place to go. She also spent countless hours supporting her children, whether it was watching her son Steve play baseball or cheering on her daughter Beth as she participated in baton twirling and cheerleading. Linda’s love and pride for her children knew no bounds, and she was always there to support them in every endeavor. Linda had a love for Christmas and loved decorating every room in the house from top to bottom. Linda was born April 11, 1947, to Bill and Edna Jackson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Monte Payne; her parents, Bill and Edna Jackson; her brother, Bud Jackson; and her in-laws, Earl and Mildred Whitehead. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Earl H. Whitehead Jr.; her son, Steve Whitehead; and her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mike Baldwin. Linda was the proud grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren: Caitlin Westmoreland (Austin), David Gibson, Jon Whitehead, and Hayleigh Simpson (Chase). Throughout her life, Linda’s kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Linda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
