Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home 1102 Big Springs Road Maryville, TN 37801 at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Dale Buchanan officiating, on Monday November 27, 2023. The family and friends will meet at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday November 28, 2023, at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway 168 Knoxville, TN 37920, for a graveside and interment services with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to RIO East Missions.

David Peter Telando went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 17, 2023, at Blount Memorial hospital after a short illness, Born in Duluth, Minn. on 7-2-1937. He left behind his wife of 62 years, Sheila; daughters Karin (Mike) Jacoby; Jody Telando and son Steve (Beth) Telando. Seven grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He was a member of RIO East church, and chaplain for the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. He previously served as a chaplain in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also served in a ministry at the hospital called ” No One Dies Alone”. He served in the U.S. Air Force active duty 1954-1957. He was also in the Air Force reserves for a while. He loved taking trips with Sheila and going to Dollywood. Dave was a man who loved God and spread happiness through with his dry humor. One of his favorite verses was- ” A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17: 22. In lieu of flowers please make donations to RIO East Missions.
