The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Larry Noles.

Ben Whitaker, a longtime resident of Blount County, passed away on April 27, 2025. Ben proudly served Blount County Government for 15 years before his retirement. He loved spending his days fishing at his favorite spots — Scenic Point, Castaway Cove, Prater’s Flat, George’s Creek, and the Silo. Ben never met a stranger and was known for his kind heart and easygoing nature. He had a genuine love for children, always greeting them with a big smile and a playful spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Maggie Belle Whitaker; brother Glen (Jo) Whitteaker; and sister Emagene (Raymond) Abbott. Ben is survived by his siblings Barbara (Edward) Hodge, Joyce (Dennis) Goodman, Carl Whitteaker, and Judy (Walter) Myers, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
Ben will be remembered for his friendly spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the many lives he touched with his generosity and laughter.
