Edith Lucille Gladden was born March 27, 1926 in Parrottsville, Tennessee to William L Fancher and Irene Greer Fancher. She attended school in Greenville, TN after which she was employed at a factory in Oak Ridge, TN. After lunch one day with some friends she met a tall handsome man on a bus. This man, as it turned out, was to be the love of her life, Lee Gladden. After they were married, they traveled around the country while Lee worked heavy construction and built roads. Their 3 children, Linda, Sam and Don, were born in the next few years as they traveled. They settled finally in Chesterton, IN, and raised the family there. After the children left home Lee and Edith retired to Florida where they were owner/operators of a motel in Naples. They remained there for several years after they sold the business. Soon they missed the beautiful mountains and countryside of Tennessee and moved north to Rockford where they lived until health issues necessitated a move to Valparaiso, Indiana to be closer to family. After Lee’s passing, Edith moved into her daughter and son-in-law’s home where they cared for her for 6 years. After Linda’s passing she moved to her son, Don’s home where she lived until her death. Edith loved and was passionate about many things. At the top of that list were her Lord and Savior, her family, traveling, quilting and jigsaw puzzles. Edith is survived by her sons, Sam (Billie) and Don (Melody), her son-in-law, Gene Burbach, 6 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and 1 on the way, 2 sisters, Sandra (Clyde) Shumate and Carol Ann (Earl) Swink, one brother, Bob Fancher, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Linda, 3 sisters and one brother.
